New restaurants and cafés in KL & PJ, October 2026

October’s new openings lean Korean. Seoul’s charcoal-grilled fish house Gosame opened its first Malaysian outlet at The Stories, Taman Tunku on 12 October. Three days later AiFOKATO started pouring espresso over Korean gelato at The Exchange TRX, where MEMI:R mills its own buckwheat for noodles cut in an open kitchen.
Away from the malls, Savia has soft-opened at Menara Hap Seng with Oaxacan cooking from the team behind Poblano, and food is 15% off until 16 November. Antra Mediterranean Grill holds its grand opening in Mont Kiara on 24 October. In PJ, One Square opened beside 1 Utama on 19 October, a short walk from Bandar Utama MRT.
This isn’t a list of reviews. It’s the one we’d send to the makan group chat: what has opened and when, what each kitchen says it does best, and roughly what you’ll spend, all from the places’ own Instagram, websites and Google listings. Two that haven’t opened yet are at the end.
At The Exchange TRX
1. AiFOKATO, The Exchange TRX
Gelato & affogato
A Korean gelato and affogato bar, and its first in Malaysia. Pick a diamond-shaped gelato in vanilla, pistachio, matcha or chocolate, then an espresso, matcha or chocolate pour: twelve combinations in all. There’s also a frozen dirty latte, and butter tteok, a Korean rice-cake treat.
Opened 15 October · RM20–40 per pax
2. MEMI:R, The Exchange TRX
Korean buckwheat noodles
Korean buckwheat noodles made in front of you. A stone mill at the front grinds the grain, and the soba is cut fresh and finished in an open kitchen. The noodles are 100% buckwheat, served cold, warm, in broth or with a dip, with a short list of Korean sharing plates. Ask for a counter seat facing the noodle station.
Daily, 11am–10pm · RM35–48 per pax · Mall parking
3. I'm donut?, The Exchange TRX
Japanese nama donuts
The viral Japanese nama-donut shop’s first Malaysian counter. There are more than 30 donuts, 16 of them made only for Malaysia, in flavours such as Milo, cham, pandan and banana fritter caramel. Donuts start at RM4.60.
Open since 12 September · RM20–80 per pax
Around KL
4. Gosame, Taman Tunku
Charcoal-grilled fish
The charcoal-grilled fish house from Seoul’s Sinchon and Hongdae, now at The Stories, Taman Tunku. It’s the brand’s first outlet in Malaysia. Order the charcoal-grilled mackerel, the dish it’s known for back home. It keeps the Seoul kitchen’s pork-free approach; halal certification hasn’t been announced.
Opened 12 October · RM40–120 per pax
5. Savia, Menara Hap Seng
Oaxacan Mexican
Oaxacan cooking from the team behind Poblano KL, at Lot 2.05, Menara Hap Seng. It calls itself Cocina Mexicana by Poblano. Food is 15% off until 16 November, and bookings are by phone or message.
Soft-opened 16 October
6. Antra Mediterranean Grill, Mont Kiara
Mediterranean grill
A fire-led Mediterranean kitchen at The MET Corporate Towers, Mont Kiara, run by Executive Chef Emir Farid. Fish and meat come off the grill, with vegetable and seasonal plates alongside. The launch tasting included house-smoked trout on masa tostadas and grilled sea bass.
Grand opening 24 October · RM20–100 per pax
7. Fonda by Calle Taco, Taman Desa
Mexican-Malaysian mixed rice
Calle Taco’s Mexican-Malaysian dishes, served over rice “the zhap fan way” beside a condo pool at Faber Ria in Taman Desa. It seats 24 to 30 at a time. There are no walk-ins; book through calle-taco.my.
Reservations only · RM40–60 per pax · Car park
8. Flipside, Taman Melawati
Western
A Western kitchen at Melawati Urban 1, with plates like steak and fries with peppercorn sauce in a warm, low-lit dining room. It does dine-in, takeaway and delivery.
Noon–10pm, from 3pm on Fridays, closed Wednesdays · RM28–180 per pax · Street parking
Also new in Mont Kiara
- Teochew House at Steppes, Mont Kiara. The newest kitchen in the Steppes hub, open daily for lunch and dinner, next to Korean BBQ, ramen and sourdough pizza.

9. One Square, Bandar Utama
Food & lifestyle square
A new square beside 1 Utama, a short walk from Bandar Utama MRT, with cafés, bakeries and a Village Grocer. It’s built around two event spaces, an indoor hall and an open-air yard meant for pop-ups and weekend markets. Tenants open on their own dates, so a shop may still be getting ready when you visit.
Opened 19 October · Paid car park · 210 bays, valet, EV charging
Three new cafés, briefly
- Wrooof, Taman Bahagia, SS2. Daytime only: 10am–6pm, closed Tuesdays. Around RM20–40 a head.
- HEA, Section 19. Under RM20 a head, with a free car park. Hours aren’t published yet, so check @hea.cafe first.
- Wild Table, Taman Paramount. Opens at 8am every day and closes at 5pm, so it works for breakfast. Around RM20–40 a head.
