How a place earns its place

Every spot carries a points score built from five reader signals. The more effort a signal takes, the more it is worth — a tap through to Google Maps says far more about a place than a page load does. No position on this board is for sale.

One exception to the arithmetic: an editor can pin a spot to a position the signals have not taken it to yet. Where that has happened the row is marked Editor’s pick and still shows the real score its readers gave it, so you can always see what it would have placed on. A pin cannot be bought.

   A like is a deliberate act, so it carries the most weight alongside an outbound tap.

   How is the AyamPanas leaderboard ranked?

   Each spot earns a points score from five reader signals: (likes × 5) + (taps × 5) + (saves × 3) + (comments × 2) + (views × 1). Spots are then ordered by that score, highest first. An editor can pin a spot to a chosen position, which is marked on that spot's row wherever it has been done. No spot can pay for a position or for a pin.

   How often does the leaderboard update?

   The ranking is recalculated from live engagement data and the page is regenerated every 5 minutes, so a spot can move up or down several times a day.

   Why do likes and tap-throughs count for more than views?

   A view only means a page loaded. A like or a tap through to the map takes deliberate effort and signals real intent to visit, so each is worth 5 points against a view’s 1.

   Can a restaurant pay to appear on the leaderboard?

   No. Nothing on this ranking is for sale, pinned positions included. Paid placements on AyamPanas are labelled as promotions and are never mixed into this ranking.

   What does it mean when a spot is pinned?

   A pinned spot has been placed at that position by an editor rather than reaching it on points - usually a new opening worth seeing before the engagement catches up. Pinned rows say so on the board and still show the real score the readers gave them, so the ranking underneath can always be checked. Pins are never sold.
