Bean Brothers
Bean Brothers PJ — Industrial Café Done Right Located in Sunway Damansara, Bean Brothers PJ stands out with its large industrial-style space — high ceilings, steel beams, warm lighting, and an open, warehouse-like layout that feels both modern and inviting. It’s more than just a café — the space is spacious, airy, and work-friendly, making it ideal for long catch-ups, casual meetings, or even a full WFH session. The vibe strikes a balance between lively and comfortable, with enough buzz to feel energetic without being overwhelming. On the menu, Bean Brothers delivers what they’re known for: Specialty coffee with bold, well-balanced flavours Brunch plates and café mains that lean hearty and satisfying Occasional creative items like croffles and fusion dishes The coffee is consistently a highlight, while the food complements it well — though prices can lean slightly on the higher side for a café experience. In short: A stylish, industrial café with solid coffee, generous space, and a great atmosphere — perfect if you want somewhere to linger rather than just grab and go.

GulaiNya, Bukit Damansara
GulaiNya serves Nyonya cooking in Bukit Damansara, drawing on both Penang and Melaka styles. It is an offshoot of Little Yum Yum in Kota Damansara, and it carries that kitchen's signatures across along with a fairly extensive menu of its own. It fills up — a Sunday night is a full house, so book a table rather than chance it. What to Order at GulaiNya The Gulai Tumis Red Snapper (RM48, small) is the anchor: fresh, firm fish in a gravy balanced so neither the spice nor the tang runs away with it. Paku Masak Lemak (RM22, small) is rich without turning unctuous, and the fern leaves keep their crunch — arguably better here than at the original. The Signature Egg (RM22, small) is the comfort order, though the yolk tends to arrive over-medium rather than runny. Asam Sambal Petai Prawn (RM28, small) glazes juicy prawns in a sambal that is more flavourful than fiery, and the petai stays tender and mild. Creamy Basil Chicken (RM28, small) is worth ordering even though the sauce runs thinner than it should to coat the chicken properly. Itik Tim is a newer addition for anyone who already knows the Nyonya version. For Nyonya food in Damansara Heights, or gulai tumis in Bukit Damansara, GulaiNya is the closer branch of a kitchen people have been driving to Kota Damansara for since 2012. Prices are for small portions, as quoted in the source review.

Yew Yew: New space in The Ka Yin

Monk, Subang Jaya
Monk is a jazz kissa in Subang Jaya — a listening room in the Japanese tradition, built by the team behind Atap by Pagi Coffee Co. Over 200 records line the walls, with a repertoire running from Blue Moon to Paper Moon, and Thelonious Monk is as likely to be on the turntable as the name suggests. The kitchen is small and deliberate: coffee, tea, and cakes baked in house. The room is designed for lingering rather than turning tables. What to Order at Monk The French sliced apple cake is the one to start with — layered, with a full-bodied ripe-fruit bite that holds up against coffee. The citron tart runs softer, its curd almost melting, and the shiso lemonade is the sharp option when you want something to cut through a slice rather than sit alongside it. For a jazz bar in Subang Jaya, or somewhere to sit with a record and a cake for an hour, Monk is built for exactly that.

Kao Mongkhol, Bandar Menjalara
Fire up the grill at Kao Mongkhol in Bandar Menjalara, where Thai mookata and hotpot meet proper BBQ vibes. Build your own spread from premium meats and fresh herbs, then cook it tableside while the Lemongrass-infused broth simmers. Perfect for groups who want control, flavor, and zero pretense.
